TLETC Sessions FAQ
What type of credit do faculty receive for participation in TLETC Sessions?
Payment Policy for Adjunct Faculty: Adjunct faculty will be compensated $35/contact hour up to a maximum of 11 contact hours for the academic year (fall and spring semesters combined; no summer stipends). These contact hours accumulate across both semesters and stipends will be paid out within a timely manner of completion of the TLETC session. Adjunct faculty can only be paid for classes during semesters in which they are contacted to teach. (Please note that there are some TLETC classes that are not offered for faculty credit).
Full-Time Faculty Earned Credits: Full-time faculty accumulate contact hours during the entire academic year (fall, spring, and summer semesters). Sixteen contact hours equal one credit toward column movement. Participants are required to attend at least 80% of the session contact hours to receive credit.
What if I can't attend or participate fully?
In order to receive credit for attending TLETC workshops, participants must attend at least 80% of the session contact hours to earn PDC credit or stipend.
How do I show that I've completed a session so I meet my PD credit?
The TLETC does not give out certificates. To show documentation for completed workshops, log into the website as if you were registering for a course. Then select the link at the right that says "Completed Courses." This will show all classes that you have ever attended through the TLETC (as well as former PDC and TLC classes). These can then be printed for documentation.
What if I'd like to teach a class or workshop for the TLETC?
We appreciate and welcome the expertise of our colleagues at CLC! Midway through each semester, an email will be sent to all faculty with a call for sessions for the following semester. There will be a form to fill out to provide details. However, we are continually adding new classes throughout each semester, so please feel free to contact the Faculty Development Chair at any time with your workshop ideas. The main consideration for ANY faculty development workshop offered through the TLETC is that the course focuses on teaching and learning and can be applicable across disciplines. In special circumstances, we may also be able to offer department-specific workshops that related to teaching and learning as well.
TLETC instructors are paid $50/contact hour for each class (this is new as of Fall 2015). If it is the first time a class is offered, instructors will also receive an additional stipend for preparation that is equal to half the total contact hours of the class (example: a 1 hour class would receive $50 instruction and $25 prep). Prep time will only be offered the first time a class is offered. Each subsequent class will pay a stipend for instruction only.
What is the cancellation policy for TLETC workshops/classes?
TLETC sessions will run if there are 5 or more registered participants. If attendance is low, our secretary will contact you via email and phone 3 days prior to the scheduled session date. Workshops that have less than 5 participants will only run at the discretion of the instructor. If you have registered for a TLETC workshop or class and need to withdraw prior to the start of class, we kindly ask that you un-enroll by visiting the course registration link.
