TLETC Services
Computer Lab
An area of the Teaching, Learning, & Educational Technology Center office with computers strictly for faculty use. Each computer includes state-of-the art hardware and software. There are currently 5 PC computers and 1 Apple computer. We have one color and one black and white printer. There are document scanners available as well (ScanSnap, flatbed and slide scanners). TLETC staff are available on appointment basis for individual technology assistance.
Workshops/Classes
Workshops and classes specific to teaching and learning are offered on a variety of topics throughout the semester. These take place at various times during the day and are offered both on-campus and online. Some, but not all, classes are available to faculty for reimbursement or column movement credit. Our main professional development topic tracks include: Blackboard, Instructional Technology, Online Pedagogy, Teaching for Learning, Student Success, Valuing Differences, and General Interest. Interested participants must register for workshops and classes through the TLETC website (http://pd.clcillinois.edu/registration.cfm).
Consultations
TLETC staff are also available to meet one-on-one with any faculty member needing assistance on teaching and learning issues. This includes (but is not limited to) non-evaluative classroom visits, review of online/blended course design, Blackboard assistance, and instructional technology advice.
Orientations
New Full-Time Faculty Orientation takes place the week before the general college orientation week in the fall semester. It is designed to introduce new full-time faculty members to the CLC community, to their expanded role as full-time faculty members, and to our diverse student body.New Part-Time Faculty
Orientation takes place the Saturday before Faculty/Staff Development Week in both fall and spring semesters. It is a 5 hour session, designed to introduce new part-time faculty to the college and provides an overview of faculty support services and instructional techniques.
Faculty and Staff Development Week takes place the week before classes start for the Spring and Fall terms. The TLETC is involved in soliciting and scheduling events of this week with final approval from Educational Affairs and Exec Staff. In spring, there is also a faculty speaker and a Faculty Professional Conference. Call for sessions is emailed mid-semester in fall and spring.
Grants
Teaching and Learning Grants are available to both individual faculty members and collaborative groups during the fall semester in the form of released teaching time. Projects must focus on enhancing the teaching and learning process at the College of Lake County and be applicable across disciplines. Grants are reviewed by the Faculty Development Advisory Committee.
