· Are you interested in providing students with quality resources to support their learning?
· Are you curious about what is involved in adopting an open textbook?
· Do you have expertise to share?
This is going to be a great online workshop for faculty or staff who are beginning with OER or want to learn more about the adoption process including open licensing, institutional readiness, and more. It is presented by Open BC Campus, one of the leaders in Open Education Textbooks. I’ve included adjuncts on this as well, although I’m assuming that adjunct faculty will have to go through their department chairs if interested in using open textbooks in their classes.
The course is being run as a MOOC (Massively Open Online Course). So, while the course is technically slated to begin on Monday, January 12, given that it is such as busy time for most of us, we can really start and end the course at any time (meaning you could watch the content for all 4 weeks in one shot if you’d like).
The contents for the entire 4 weeks are available online at any time. The only pieces that are time sensitive with the course are the 30 minute weekly webinars that happen on Wednesday's at 11AM PST (1pm for us). Those specific webinars are all recorded and made available by 5pm on the Wednesday they happen. So, even though they have a set course schedule, it is still very self-paced. People who come into the course in week 2 and week 3 can easily pick up at the beginning of the course and cover the content on their own.
Register through the TLET at http://tlet.clcillinois.edu (4 contact hours). Then, register directly at: http://open.bccampus.ca/2014/11/06/adopting-open-textbooks-online-workshop-2/
