Blackboard Course Offerings

Blackboard - How to get started

Designed for the person that has never used blackboard and want to get started, but are not sure where to start. An hour in length we will cover the blackboard interface, student view, attaching a syllabus, entering grades, creating announcements and turning the course on.

This session is offered several times during the first couple week of each semester only.

Blackboard One-on-One

Wanting to further your blackboard use? Regardless of what you use blackboard for or what level you fell you are, there are always new things to explore and incorporate into your course. If there are individual topics or feature you wish to learn, please consider this session. Taught one on one, you choose the topic. If the date and time of this or another session does not work for your schedule, please consider contacting Russ Pearson to schedule another time that would work better for you.

This one-on-on consultation is available through out the semester.

Blackboard Mini Sessions

These short 20 minute session are topic specific and offered throughout the semester. Topics include: Testing in blackboard, Assignments, Portfolios in blackboard, The Grade center, Using Rubrics in blackboard, The Discussion board, Using Respondus for testing, Using Journals and others as requested.

Blackboard for Online Instructing

Ready to move your course online?  This session serves to meet the Blackboard requirement to teach online. This session assumes you currently use blackboard heavily in your face to face classes and already know how to build a test and create an assignment. This session will be held in a BLENDED format for 3 weeks.  On the Monday of each week, there will be 1.5 hours of online instruction.  Then, on the Thursday, you will have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice with a hands-on instructional forum. This session is limited to 15 participants and it is expected you can attend all 3 face to face meetings.  Topics covered include: Assessment, Course Design and Communication

Typically offered twice during the fall and spring semesters and once during the summer semester. If you feel you have extensive blackboard knowledge, you have the option to meet this requirement through a demonstration of your competency. If this option interests you, please contact Russ Pearson.
